Hello! My name is Whitney Steele, and I was born and raised in Denver. My husband John and I live in New Castle with our four-year-old, Weston. I love teaching; next year will be my 14th year in education. I feel lucky to live on the Western Slope and all the beauty and nature it provides. I enjoy playing with my son, skiing, water sports, reading, and hiking in my free time. Second grade is the best; I enjoy seeing my students grow and meet their goals! This is my first year teaching at CVE, and I have enjoyed being here.

I began teaching in 2012 and have never turned back! I knew I wanted to be an educator when I was in 3rd grade. I idolized my 3rd-grade teacher; she was bright, adventurous, and kind. I could not wait to have a class of my own. I have thoroughly enjoyed every year and always look forward to learning about and getting to know each child that walks through my classroom door.
I am passionate about education, literacy education in particular. I am an avid reader and completed 52 chapter books in 2021 and 40 in 2022. I also began an MS in Curriculum and Instruction through WGU - so that's been quite a bit of reading as well!
If I am not reading ;), I love to hike, paddle board, climb 14ers, and play games with my family. I am so excited to continue to be a part of the RE2 family and have the opportunity to educate your child.
